December Behind the Scenes

+ + + January 6, 2016

Just a quick break from Marrakechmas to have a quick look at what went on behind the blog in December!

New flat!

new-flat

In early December, on a whim, I went to check out a new (as in different, I think the building was built in the 1830s) flat, so I will be moving at the end of January. It’s really exciting and a bit strange since I’ve lived in my current flat basically since I moved to England 2.5 years ago. I’m looking forward to trading in my studio for a living room. And the kitchen is pretty big. I’m sure I’ll post pics once I’m settled, like I did with my first Tiny Flat Tour!

Old memories…

Since I was able to spend Christmas in Marrakech with my bestie, who I’ve known since I was 12, we spent a lot of time taking strolls down memory lane. She also managed to find this photo of me from Stampede in 2009. Good times.

Caribbean Christmas with Yelp!

yelp

Just before Christmas, I was invited by Yelp to attend their Caribbean Christmas party at Riki Tik in Brighton. It’s right on the seafront in one of the “tubes” by Coalition. The atmosphere was really chill and laid back. I did not know so many reggae covers of Christmas songs existed! And the food was absolutely killer. I had the coconut and garlic chicken which came with loads of rice and some veggies and was delicious. Most of my friends had rum cocktails, but as I’ve given up alcohol for anxiety reasons, the lovely bartenders mixed me up a virgin Bahama Mama… and it was delicious. Definitely one I will be back to.

Apologies for no food pics, though. As you can see, the lighting was quite low!

Planning for the future.

planner

The last week of December finally allowed me to bust out my Erin Condren Life Planner and get started on getting some organization back into my life. I always tend to get lazy after a bit and not follow through with planners, but this year I am making it a priority to track things such as my spending, and along with that comes all sorts of things, like meal planning and budgeting. I am also trying to stay reasonably “on schedule” with this blog (aka actually posting on Sundays and Wednesdays, which is my usual goal). And just generally feel like I’ve got stuff together.

Easier said than done, of course. I had so much productivity planned for the time between New Year and going back to work last Monday, but instead ended up with gastroenteritis. So that was a bit of a write off! Oh well, there’s always next week…

That’s great about the new flat! Sometimes the best things are done on a whim, this sounding like one of them 🙂
Look forward to hearing more about it!
