Airport Blog Entry… Take Two

+ June 22, 2013

I don’t even know if I should write this entry lest I jinx it…. Not that things could really go further off course.

So. I forgot my wallet at home. And I panicked. And got removed from my flight. (Not by force, haha.) It was kind of silly but… yeah, I just thought “I won’t have my credit card to get into my hotel in London.” I forgot about overnight FedEx. So I left the terminal and got my baggage from customs.

Well, that was an expensive mistake. šŸ˜› Luckily after some calling around my mom managed to contact Flight Centre, an agency that was able to get me on a 9:30pm British Airways flight from Calgary to Heathrow. But that took a solid 2 hours of running around, leaving the airport to go pay for the new flight in person and having to fix a few mistakes on the ticket. But in the end Flight Centre was awesome.

Somehow it was worse saying goodbye to my parents again after having dinner. I didn’t cry past security last time (well, not about leaving) but I did this time. Possibly because my mom waited until she couldn’t see me anymore, but security this afternoon took about 10 seconds and tonight it took 10 minutes.

So, I’m waiting for my new flight but I’m not really counting on it now, even though I have a ticket and a seat and my wallet and passport and everything. šŸ˜›

I’ve also never been to Heathrow but it seems easier to get to my hotel from there.

I guess we’ll see how things go and hopefully this was the one big setback in all of this and now I can move forward with ease!

OMG what crazyness. I’m glad you were able to still leave on the same day. Trips NEVER go perfecly, as you know from my own recent story of the last day of my road trip. šŸ˜›

  • Ah, that sounds crazy but judging by your tweets you are Londonside right now so it sounds like it all worked out okay šŸ˜€

  • Glad everything worked out for you! Hope things go smoother from here.
